The outside temperature is 35 degrees. It is very moist out – it rained earlier. We see water; this time it is fresh!

Yes, we are in Lake Arrowhead sitting in Partaker Cottage. The heat is on ( a toasty 58 and it has been on for about 4 hours), there is a fire in the fireplace, music from the forties is playing, and I am about to start a slow roasted pot roast! Won’t that smell good?

As I check the weather for Fort Lauderdale, it is now 79 degrees, and it is after 5 pm there.  As you may imagine, we are dressed a little differently. I love it. I have on one of my hand knit sweaters (a cozy wool alpaca in green), jeans and wool socks with my clogs. This is a far cry from the shorts, tees and boat shows that have been the norm for weeks. Soon enough we shall be returning to Florida and the adventure shall continue.

I am looking forward to it. I am surprised by how busy we have been since being home. Coming to the cabin is perfect. It is small like the boat, I don’t lose Kelley like I can at home (Honey? Honey? Where are you?) I am thinking that small is good. And, we don’t have “things” that have to be done.

So, we will visit Partaker for a couple of days; head home; complete a few more chores; out to the desert. And then, before we know it, it will be time to fly East! We hope to see YOU ALL!

Partaker CottageWe have come up to Lake Arrowhead for a few days. The weather is quite different here than in Florida. (There really isn’t any snow here, but I forgot the camera!) When we arrived the outside temperature was 25 degrees…inside Partaker Cottage was 37! This is the temperature that we leave the thermostat at when we leave. We turned the heater – not forced air – up to 68 and went off to lunch. By 6 pm it was 57 inside. But then that is what sweaters are for.

It has gotten warmer over the last few days. We have had great walks. There is a lot of construction going on and we have been watching new and re-construction since the summer. We feel it is our job when here to critique the progress, or as is often the case, lack of progress.

This morning we walked over on the UCLA Conference Center side. We walked along the lake and continued to marvel at the huge homes that are rarely occupied. To be a house-sitter for one of them would be a great job.

Big game on TV tonight. We get to stay up here because we have just gotten DirecTV here and one for Prime Time, which we will take back with us. Just think, we can be in Florida and catch the 5 o’clock local news at 8; our receiver will think it is in California. Guess we will need to get a waiver for the local stations.

Happy New Year everyone! We begin gathering the next boat load when we return home. We have one way tickets to Florida on the 15th. “He who would be Jimmy Buffet” is looking forward to the warmer weather!
