On to Petersburg. A 7.5 hour run; a long day but the scenery was unbeatable. I liked it best when we were entering the Wrangell Narrows, also called Christmas Tree Lane (because these huge trees line both sides of the strait). As the strait winds around we saw a few fishing lodges and some homes on the water. It is pretty barren…………
We got a slip in Petersburg – around 6.

Mexican train tonight – He who doesn’t like games (Chuck) won 4 games in a row! Yikes!

We are off to DSCN2558 this morning. Beautiful water ways with the pine trees coming right down to the water. To get into Myers Chuck you make a quick turn between large rocks and through a narrow passage into this charming cove.

We tied up to a long dock and got off the boat to walk on the small trail that takes one to the cabins that line the shore. DSCN2561

Karlyn and I stayed up and watched the “sun set” at 10ish. Although the sun doesn’t really set here until around 11 (and up at 2, I think) the colors of pink, peach, gold with the darkness from rain clouds causing parts to look purple was beautiful. A great first day!

The shuttle from the Narrows Inn dropped us off at Lady K. After a little bit of time to unpack we called for a taxi and returned to town. Although Kelley had not wanted the perfect Alaskan jacket, he decided to get one; the only color he liked was the black one, which happens to be the same color as Chuck’s.

A quick bite at Annabelle’s and a taxi ride back to Lady K. Home sweet home!

We all decided that we had eaten out enough so we barbequed burgers and had salad. Good home cookin’.

This is our third visit to this charming town. I feel like a native!

Karlyn and Chuck are here playing with one of their daughters and her family while they wait for Lady K to arrive. It has been a challenging trip getting the boat here because of the weather.

After breakfast with the group, we went into the rain to look Ketchikan over again. Chuck had bought the “perfect” Alaskan jacket – reversible with fleece on the inside and rain protection on the outside with a hood that can be unzipped from the jacket! All for $19.99! How could I pass this one up?

After lunch with Tiffany and John and the boys at Pioneer Cafe (a local spot shared by one of their tour guides), they head off for the airport and we return to the Narrows Inn for some quiet time. Later we decide to have drinks and dinner at the restaurant there.

Lady K, here we come tomorrow.
