After boating through the fog for a few hours I was hesitant to leave this morning. Because it was suppose to be as warm as yesterday and that would bring in the fog, or so we were told. But, I have learned that what we have read and have been told is not always correct.

Kelley got up at 6 this morning and walked down to the Delaware Bay to see if it was clear enough to leave. The tide was going out, not much wind blowing against us, and all we needed was the ability to “see.” It was clear. We left immediately. It was such a smooth ride down to Cape May, New Jersey. We were thrilled.

We entered the Cape May Canal and we both are beginning to believe that all canals look the same. What do you think?

We are staying at Miss Chris Marina. Recommendation? Well, we are only staying one night! It is really a working dock, whale tours, fishing boats; but, it is close to town. We went for a bike ride there. So charming and so touristy.

There is an historic section. Charming beach cottages right next to mansions that housed the wealthy.

We rode down to the beach and were surprised that you need to buy a tag ($4 for one day) to walk down to the water or sit on the beach. There are people posted at the beach walkways to sell the tickets or make sure that you have yours.

It is so hot out. There is a weather watch warning people to stay inside in a cool environment. We were very glad to return to the boat and all of its cooled air! Dinner on the boat tonight. Something simple and cool! This is our first night in New Jersey.

From Oxford we crossed the Bay and headed into Annapolis. We wanted to stay at the yacht club there, but they could only take us for one night. We called the City docks upon entering the harbor, you can’t make a reservation, but I had called earlier and they said that they were pretty sure they would have a spot for us. And a spot they did. It was on Ego Alley.

We love walking around Annapolis. I am sure when the Academy is in session you see a lot of midshipmen walking around, but we did see a few at night. They are all so young and proud looking, both men and women.

We did have breakfast one morning at the Chick and Ruth’s Delly. We got there too late for the pledge of allegiance that is said every morning.

And, of course, what would a week be without a HUGE storm. We were sitting out on the sun deck when the rain started. We are watching people scurry. We decide that we will go up on the bridge, so that if the wind changes a bit we will still be dry. What we didn’t expect was for the wind to completely change directions and come blowing in the back of the boat. But then, there was a tornado watch. East coast weather!
