Patience with Florida Time

What a beautiful day here. Last visit I didn’t think Florida and I were going to be friends; just like me to judge on first impressions! Big mistake! It is beautiful here. The weather is perfect. I walked to Paradise Cove, but that is for tomorrow because there must be a picture for that note.

Yep, the boat is still in the ship yard where it will remain until 10, or so they say. They also said noon today; then it was 2:30, then 3:30 then we said let’s do it in the morning. So we will go back and make sure the lift works correctly and then Prime Time will go for a swim. Just a short on to her slip. I will then climb aboard and get to work. Kelley says that the inside looks great. I look forward to digging in and making her ours.

Arrival

Up at 4:40 am and Spencer had us to the airport by 5:15. We had one bag over the 50 weight limit…hey, Kelley keeps saying it is a ‘no budget trip’. (It will be interesting when he stops saying that!) We have learned that sitting in the middle sit is okay…a chance to meet 2 new people. We would like to sit near each other on the eay home, but it isn’t looking good. Something about holiday travel. When we arrived in Fort Myers I was so pleased that there was a gentle breeze and it didn’t feel humid at all. It feels like those perfect days in Hawaii….ahhhh.

Once we arrived at the hotel in Naples we had to get out and walk. We walked and walked and realized we were looking for a spot for dinner. Finally we settled on TGIFriday’s. Nice to sit and realize that the adventure is about to begin, or has begun.

Tomorrow Kelley will take off to the boat yard. We are being optimistic that the work is, or will be, completed so that the boat can be in the water and we will spend our first night on it. I hope it is because Tin City Marina is near THE shopping area. There are suppose to be shops and cafes. Oh, Ann, I need you here to shop!

Although at home it is only 5:30, I am ready for a sudoku puzzle and sleep. Good night!

The Eve of Departure

Well, it is really the morning before we fly. Two large suitcases are packed and another one is almost full. I thought I had read that each passenger could have two bags totaling 50 pounds; my friend Judy set me straight. She was right! Yippee! Two suitcase and each can weigh 50 pounds. You know screwdrivers and wrenches and other favorite boating tools are heavy. I haven’t even begun to load my yarn and needles yet.

We were hoping to take the boat to Fort Myers on Friday but it now looks like Saturday. Something about the brackets for the dinghy not ready on time and the skipper, who is doing a lot of the work, having to fly somewhere. Honestly, I wish all of those people would get their priorities straight. This is about us; this is Prime Time we’re talking about. We have a schedule to keep….or at least a flight to catch next Tuesday.

What’s in a name?

Well, it is official! We have named the boat: Prime Time. Easy to say. Don’t have to spell it. Time spent on the boat will be Prime. We are in the Prime of our lives. Now we need to have a decal designed for the back of the boat and then a huge “renaming” party (a challenge when you know that we live in California and the boat is in Florida) so that the boat will be happy and sail peacefully through the seas. I dislike it that I am so superstitious; but then, it is an opportunity for a party.

I am looking for past boat treasures. We each get 2 suitcases to pack with items I know we will use on the boat. This is an adventure! Now, where are the charts?
